A great place to get away and relax. Very clean and well appointed and a super place to relax!
What a fabulous stay! Very cozy comfortable cabin, well appointed kitchen, even has a coffee bean grinder! Bed was very comfortable. Deck has seating and a table. Nice fire pit with firewood ready to light. Quiet pretty area. Great stay, highly recommend
Rosemary and Doyle provide a very clean, comfortable cabin in the woods, close to Glacier, close to the stores, well stocked and maintained. We enjoyed our trip to Glacier and having this spot to return to every night was wonderful. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
We stay in a lot of places are travel therapists and this vacation was amazing! Secluded in the woods but extremely easy to find/get to with any vehicle. A very short drive to glacier and close to a market if you need groceries. Honestly loved the cabin. Perfect for the two of us and our small dog who was able to stay there while we explored glacier. He loved the outdoors and wildlife. Everything is set up for a great stay and well stocked for cooking with a grill outside too! Loved it. Will stay here in the future.
This is an awesome little cabin. Really cozy and convenient to the park. Our dogs loved the outdoor space, which is incredible particularly if your pets have good recall (there are lots of deer, elk, grizzly bears and other critters in the area, so be careful with wandering dogs!).
Thank you so much Rosemary and Doyle for your wonderful hospitality and great communication! We absolutely LOVED your little cabin in the woods. It was beautifully decorated with all the comforts of home. We enjoyed walking the grounds with our pup and making a campfire each night while watching the deer in the field. Perfect choice for our visit to Glacier NP
Just wow! The pictures do not do this place justice. It is so cute and roomy. It was my husband, 1.5 year old and I, and we had a fantastic time at the Brownstone. The cottage is all set up with everything you could need! We couldn’t get over how clean everything was. Rosemary and Doyle were very accommodating and informative of everything we needed to know prior to the trip and would check on us regularly. We will absolutely love to come back again and stay. And anyone thinking about staying here, should!
Nice private place. Very large deck to relax and read after a long day of hiking and biking. Well equipped kitchen and functional space. Perfect for couples.
Amazing wooded location about 15 min from entrance to Glacier Nat’l Park. Has everything you need for a short or long stay. Great communication. Highly recommended!!
Absolutely amazing. Beautiful cabin with a rich history, feels secluded yet is located a short drive away from GNP. Staff on site is super helpful and responds very quickly. Best features are the grill, fire pit (with wood and fire starter), back deck, and proximity to GNP. Cabin is equipped with everything you will need to cook and grill. There are even trails on the property!
Wonderful getaway in a magical location!
Peaceful cabin tucked in the woods, very quiet and relaxing. Thanks again for letting us stay!
I would highly recommend staying here to anyway visiting glacier or just trying to get away from the bustle of life. The cabin itself is gorgeous and peaceful, truly the perfect place to get away. If you time it right, you’ll be treated to some wild raspberries and thimbleberries. Even though the cabin’s in the woods, it’s a short drive from glacier, restaurants, bars and grocery stores. Big plus, they supply two cans of bear spray (which go for $40 a can).
This cozy little cabin was the perfect spot for our visit to Glacier, with easy access to the park. Highly recommend.
The cabin is lovely. Well equipped, meticulous clean and has a nice porch to sit outside and enjoy the nature around. The quietness of the place is amazing.
Beautiful location, with a short drive to the park as well as nearby grocery stores and restaurants. The cabin itself was clean, well-equipped, and comfortable for our July visit. The patio is a great spot, as well as around the fire pit in the front yard. While we could see and hear other guest at the nearby cabins, it was still reasonably private and quiet. We would absolutely stay here again.
Amazing cabin—worked out perfectly for a trip to GNP and to relax! Doyle and Rosemary were quick to respond and had a book of helpful tips in the cabin for everything about the area. Great accessibility to West Glacier and Flathead Lake.
Such an amazing and cozy cabin tucked away in the woods! The pictures don't do it justice. It has a very large patio with beautiful trees surrounding it. The cabin itself is very cozy and almost has a tree house effect to it. We were lucky enough to have a thunderstorm one morning and it was the most peaceful sleep ever! We cooked both nights and had everything we needed in the kitchen. I enjoyed taking my morning walks through the surrounding meadows and by the creek. Would definitely recommend for anyone who wants a getaway or for anyone visiting GNP.
Brownstone was cozy and quiet and a great spot for people traveling to Glacier. We loved it and will recommend to anyone.
Really cute studio style cabin!! Comfy firm bed, and warm shower. Kitchen has everything you need for a short stay! Back porch is a beautiful quiet spot to eat a meal and enjoy the property on a morning walk.
Adorable cabin in a peaceful environment! Hosts were very communicative and ensured we had everything we needed! Highly recommend for your GNP visit!
Really great cabin in a historic homestead. Looks much smaller in the photos than it actually is. Perfect romantic studio cabin.
The cabin is lovely. Well equipped, meticulous clean and has a nice porch to sit outside and enjoy the nature around. The quietness of the place is amazing.
Thank you for the great stay! It was a perfect location and exactly what we were looking for when visiting Glacier. Very peaceful, private, and the cabin was excellent. Close to the park and nearby towns for groceries and other activities. If we're ever back in Montana we'll be staying again for sure.
Great cabin with a great host This cabin is your total iconic Montana cabin. It sits on a pasture surrounded by gorgeous mountains. Doyle is a wonderful host. We’d highly recommend
Our stay in the Brownstone Cabin July 25-28, 2019 was absolute perfection! We loved the quiet location, nestled in the woods. We loved everything about the cabin and its set-up - clean and fresh linens and towels and a perfectly stocked kitchen. We enjoyed the patio with the outdoor patio furniture - watching the hummingbirds. The fresh flowers in the kitchen were the perfect final touch.
Thank you for everything! We'll be sending all of our friends your way.
Cheers, T
We really loved our stay at the Brownstone cabin! It was quaint and charming. Immaculately clean! They did not skimp on the quality of towels and sheets. So u sleep in comfort. The fan helped circulate the air. The flower boxes and hummingbird feeder were such a beautiful touch! We bbq and sat out on the back deck. The cabin is surrounded by majestic pine trees! So you have your privacy. We loved just hiking around the property also. The location is convenient, close to the park and the town. I highly recommend this cabin for a vacation! The manager Doyle and Ginny were very helpful. (Bear spray is provided.) Best, Tom and Nina
The brownstone cabin is a beautiful place to visit the west side of glacier park and the surrounding forest from. Doyle is a responsive host and the cabin is in great shape. In fact, the only grievance I had is that there was no WiFi for the brownstone cabin, we were instead instructed to use the network from a house down the road... it sort of worked, sort of. That said, Doyle seemed to be working to set up a network for the brownstone, and the location, privacy, and cleanliness were more than enough to offset the lack of WiFi. Not to mention Verizon had full service within the cabin. All in all, Doyle is a great host, and I would not hesitate to stay in the brownstone again.
Rosemary
Response from Rosemary:
Thanks, Aaron, we’ve got the new system up and it works great!
Really a Great Place! Thanks, D
This is a perfect getaway close to the most beautiful parts of Glacier Park. The cabin is rustic but has everything you really need yet provides a private getaway that is convenient to the entrance to the park. We would definitely stay at the Brownstone Cabin again. Innkeepers are very nice and work hard to provide a great experience for their guests.
We stayed here for a peaceful few nights during our anniversary in June. Initially, we were a little disappointed by this particular cabin's proximity to the main house/owners as we pulled up, but we were quickly reassured by the quiet and overall privacy provided by our hosts and our cabin's deck facing the woods. This space was IMMACULATELY clean; we are neat freaks and even I was impressed. The exterior of the cabin gives a rugged impression but the inside has clearly been remodeled and is cozy and incredibly tidy. This is the kind of place where you feel totally comfortable lingering in the shower, using all the kitchen tools provided by the hosts and snuggling up with extra blankets, etc. knowing everything is fresh and clean. We saw several hummingbirds and enjoyed laying in the reclining chairs in our sleeping bags checking out the stars and clouds at night <3
Really, it's hard to say too many good things about Brownstone and the Abbott Valley Homestead. We were there for three nights and were still discovering nice touches. The guest book is a great resource that includes a rich narrative of the family's history in the valley and the characters who contributed to creating the homestead. The cabin itself is very cozy and nicely appointed, with thoughtful touches everywhere you look. The kitchen was especially nice. and well stocked, including a small collection of spices that included their own family "rub." Doyle, the caretaker and one of the brothers, was working on a cabin next door and was a great help. He provided us with good tips on where to hike as well as a hose and bucket for washing our car after a day of driving along one of the muddiest roads I've ever seen on our way to Polebridge. Also, the homestead itself is a sprawling, lovely piece of land with roads for walking and exploring. Who wouldn't want to have an address on Spotted Bear Road?! Enjoy!
We had such an incredible experience at the Brownstone cabin! It was very clean, well equipped, and overall feel like it was the perfect getaway for us. If we visit Glacier National Park again, the Brownstone cabin will be the first place we try and book.
We woke up surrounded by beautiful trees:) I loved the Brownstone cabin so very much. It is the perfect amount of space for two people and a great location for exploring Glacier. Would definitely return.

You will fall in love with the cabin. What I loved the most was how fully furnished it was. All we needed was groceries and that was it. When visiting Glacier I refuse to stay anywhere else. We were 10min outside the west entrance of glacier and not far at all from local restaurants. You will fall in love! It was perfect for me and my boyfriend.
Brownstone is a lovely cabin set in an ideal location. It’s clean, homey and enabled us to explore the local area knowing that we had somewhere special to come back to after a long day travelling, sightseeing etc. Perfect!
Beautiful cabin; spacious for two people, gorgeous wrap around deck with peaceful wooded setting in back and comfortable seating. Very convenient for exploring Glacier National Park.
We loved this little cabin in the woods! It has everything you need to do some cooking while you stay and the hosts have done a great job of including everything and anything you may need, even a grill. The highlight of our stay was when a very sweet and playful corgi that came by to hang out (We think she smelled the bacon we were cooking). Big beautiful deck out back that is a great place to have a beer and relax.
Lovely cabin tucked into the woods. This quiet place was charming, clean, well appointed and very comfortable. A perfect place to relax after a day of exploring. Great deck in the back to relax and check out the stars, a wealth of material about the area and all there is to do near and in Glacier National Park, and quick responses from Rosemary to any questions we had. Would love to come back in the fall, winter and spring to see the other seasons. Would love to come back anytime and stay much longer.
We stayed at brownstone this summer while visiting glacier national park. The location was perfect. Just a short drive to west glacier. The cabin was so cozy and had everything we could have needed after camping prior to our arrival. Rosemary leaves a great book with all sorts of things she recommends doing during your trip as well as restaurants and even a history of the cabin. It was all very helpful and fun to read! We will definitely be coming back on our next trip!
Great location and amenities. We recommend this stay to anyone visiting Glacier.
Great place as a jumping off point to see Glacier. Everything we could have needed as a home base.
We highly recommend staying here. The location is perfect, about 5-10 minute drive to Glacier National Park, and there are grocery stores even closer than that. The Brownstone has a great back porch that is very private and quiet. Rosemary was very responsive when we reached out to her for assistance, and there is someone onsite that can help with anything almost immediately.
Tucked away clean cabin with a history well worth reading about (the guidebook tells the history of the place). Quiet retreat yet a convenient short drive to coffee, ice cream, dinner and of course Glacier National Park.
Wonderful stay! Close to GNP. Unlike other spaces, they actually have a nice array of spices, oil, and basic cooking items. In addition, they have plastic wrap, sandwich bags, etc. In past stays in other spots, they don't even provide you with salt, which is ridiculous. But this spot had it all! Including a great little weber grill. Thanks!
We stayed here for a week for our honeymoon and it was perfect! Quiet, cozy, and had a great kitchen setup. Any time we decide to go to Glacier again I think we’ll try to stay here again, much better than the hotels at a great rate.
Great location to the park. Very cozy and comfortable, was very nice to see the wildlife.
“Nice, clean cabin just the right size for a long weekend getaway for me. Kitchen was nicely stocked with spices and pans/pots, little oven. Deck was very big with nice flowers and chairs. Cabin was private and quiet, yet close to Glacier and Hungry Horse for food and a grocery store. Easy access to the Kalispell airport. Easy check in and I was even allowed to check in earlier.
The Abbott Valley Homestead is secluded -- a ways off the highway and not in the vicinity of any other accommodations. All the cabins and houses are different -- from small rustic cabins to full stylish houses, and everything is clean, well-equipped, and well cared for, including lovely plantings and container flowers. The property includes its own hiking trails over dozens of private acres of woods and meadows. Only 8 miles from Going to the Sun Road, and there is a fully stocked super market nearby in Hungry House. You could pay as much to stay in a row of tiny cabins on the highway, but why?”
We really enjoyed staying in this forested spot during our visit to the West Glacier and Going to the Sun areas. I loved the big windows in the cabin and the very large deck out the back door. There was plenty of space for the two of us, even with lots of luggage for hiking, birding, and fishing in tow. Kitchen was equipped with all that we needed, including very nice quality cookware, corkscrew, and two cheese knives! We made all of our meals and packed our lunches at the cabin, not eating out once. With the Abbott Homestead as our base, we were able to make day trips, including hiking at Logan Pass and with a longer drive, hiking to Twin Falls at Two Medicine Lake on the east side of the Glacier National Park.”
The cabin and back deck were a haven for us....we loved just sitting on the deck and taking in the surrounding beauty. Even the soft towels and sheets were much more elegant than I expected in a 'cabin'..We would love to come again. The setting in the woods with filtered light, and the back deck was so sweet. Every detail was much more than I expected for a 'cabin'.
This place is fantastic. Located near Martin City, it offers great GNP access as well as being close to Hungry Horse market and laundry. The kitchen is well equipped and even includes a full line of spices. They also provide napkins, paper towels, dish soap and lotion. The huge citronella candle on the deck was welcome. Every afternoon we returned to find a deer lounging in the side yard. Highly recommend.
Outstanding accommodations - The best if you are visiting Glacier National Park. Have stayed previously in Kalispell, and suffered from the drive to/from the Park, however this spot solves that problem, 8 miles from the West Glacier entry. And for the cabin, this is one of the best places we have stayed. The cabin's accommodations make you want to stay at least a week (no TV, which is the best), and with several nights BBQing steaks and corn on the grill from the local grocery store that is 1 mi away. Wish we could have stayed longer. Cheers!
Loved everything about the cabin. It was just what we were looking for in our trip. We enjoyed using the barbecue and firepit. It is a very restful location and the proximity to the park is attractive. Having the spices available for cooking was an unexpected nice touch. Would definitely stay here again. It was very quiet and peaceful and if there were guests occupying the other dwellings on the property, we didn't hear or notice them.
We enjoyed our stay at the Brownstone very much. The bed was super comfortable, the cabin was very clean and tidy and we had everything we needed to cook when we wanted--which was mainly breakfast because we spent most of our time at Glacier. It was nice to come back and relax in such a nice place. The deck was nice and we enjoyed our evening by the fire pit also. Seeing the doe and 3 fawns was icing on the cake. We will certainly recommend Abbott Valley and the Brownstone.
Loved, Loved, Loved this place!
Having spent a lot of time planning our North West road trip, we had looked at all sorts of properties on the internet, in the Glacier National Park area, including a lot of so called 'cabins' along the highway.
Thank goodness I found this place.
We stayed in the Brownstone Cabin, which is the smallest property on the homestead, but ample in size for the two of us.
It is located a couple of miles from the highway in a wooded area, well away from any traffic noise, but within a 15 minute drive from the park entrance.
The cabin had been left open with the key on the table for our arrival, and the owner Doyle dropped by shortly after to introduce himself and check everything was okay - a lovely touch.
The cabin itself has all the amenities you'd expect including a full kitchen and gas BBQ on the deck and a fire pit.
It also has THE most comfortable bed in the world!
Wi-Fi is also available if you need it.
I so wish we could have stayed longer than three nights, maybe next time.
Thank you Abbot Valley for a wonderful memory.
My husband and I spent 4 nights in September while visiting Glacier park. We stay at the Brownstone, great place, with wifi and a great well furnished kitchen. Very close to Glacier park and a beautiful place. The cabin is very spacious.
We have dreamed of a vacation in Glacier National Park, and we are thankful that we spent 7 nights of our stay at Abbott Valley Homestead. We stayed in Brownstone, and it was ideal for just the two of us. Our correspondence with the manager via email and phone in the months prior to our arrival was helpful, kind and timely....
