Ten minutes to Glacier Park makes this lovely, comfortable and well maintained home a summer favorite! Jaybird's is surrounded by a large yard and nearby creek with gorgeous tamarack and birch trees. Enjoy nature with every view!
Jaybird's has a large well-equipped kitchen, sitting room, 3 bedrooms (1k,1q,1f) and two full baths and laundry. Adjacent to the kitchen is a lovely patio, perfect for morning coffee, reading or just listening to the birds. Enjoy convenient shopping for the BBQ or use full line of cookware inside. Wood is provided for the fire-pit and stargazing is unlimited!
Jaybird's, formerly Tom and Jay Foley's home, was remodeled in 2019 to share with extended family and guests, and has been named after our mother, Jaybird. We were able to keep and restore much of the original wood paneling and flooring, milled in our parents sawmill in the early 1950's.
Jaybird's is handicap accessible, complete with a courtyard that wraps around three sides of the house.

This is a great home... the location is great, close to Glacier National Park and town.... nestled in the woods. It's very quiet and peaceful... nice room to roam... The first thing we noticed in the home was how clean it was... we rent several times a year from VRBO and this home was super clean!. Great bedding and towels... the kitchen is stocked nicely with everything you need ... if your heading to this area, i would highly recommend this home as a place for base camp !
Everything was fantastic and our stay was beautiful!
The property is in a beautiful location, and centrally located to Glacier National Park and shopping only a few miles away. Charming, peaceful and quite.
The location of Jaybirds is great. It’s in a quiet neighborhood about 15 minutes or less from The west entrance of Glacier, and it’s easy to get to towns like Whitefish from here. There are 7 homes on the property that are fairly close to each other, but it was still very quiet and peaceful. Doyle was super easy to work with, and the check in and check out process truly couldn’t be any simpler.
Couldn't be more happy: super-clean property, nothing broken, thoughtfully furnished with everything we could ever think we'd need. Close to the Park entrance, and QUIET. We can't wait to come back.
Good communication/ beautiful property!! Clean, quiet, cozy ..we loved it
Clean, spacious, close enough to west glacier park entrance. Overall a nice place to stay. Hot water showers were nice. One of the bed comforters smelled a damp but otherwise a great place to stay. I recommend
We loved staying here. Doyle is very prompt and helpful with responses. Place is exactly as described and in photos. Clean and had everything you need, including bear spray! 10 minutes from west glacier entrance.
We loved our stay and didn’t want to leave. The property is clean, well maintained & has a neat history. It is fully stocked and the owners are very accommodating and quick to respond. The location to Glacier National Park is perfect!! 10-15 minutes during peak season. We would 100% love to return and definitely recommend this property!!!! Thank you!!!!!!
We enjoyed our stay and the area was peaceful. Quick drive to the park and towns! We would love to stay here again.
We spent two days at Glacier Park. About 15 minutes to the park. We loved coming back to the house and relaxing. We visited the creek and cooked all our meals. The house was spacious and the patio was beautiful. We grilled every night.
We loved our week at Jaybirds! It was clean, plenty big for a family of 4, had everything we needed, and was the perfect location for exploring Glacier Natl Park. Communication with the owners was the best we’ve experienced with VRBO. The key things to keep in mind: - no TV. Bring books and board games and spend time in the great outdoors! - strong and consistent WiFi - no A/C. We visited during a heat wave with temps at 100, and we live in Oklahoma where the A/C runs 8 months a year. We were afraid we’d be miserable, but it was truly very comfortable. There’s no humidity and the towering pines keep the house shaded. If we ever have the luxury of visiting this area again we’d love another stay at Jaybirds! It felt like “home!”
This was a perfect property for our family of 5. I wouldn’t change a thing. I would definitely attempt to book this location again. The distance from GNP is ideal. We enjoyed the grill and firepit every night. The kitchen was stocked with supplies and the appliances appeared new. The home was well cared for and clean. It had a cozy cabin feel with modern conveniences. The property itself is beautiful and spacious. We loved the privacy of the Homestead. We were concerned about no AC since it was going to be a hot week but the temperature inside was perfect. Doyle was a great host! Thanks for a memorable vacation.
Great location off the beaten path just far enough :). It was great to sit out by the fire pit and cook sausages and s’mores. We easily were able to go to Glacier National Park all 3 days. We would definitely recommend this cozy cottage in the woods. A far cry from the concrete jungle of So Cal.
Clean, well maintained and close to Glacier
Kids loved the creek and wooden bridge. Kids loved swing set and rope climb. Washer/dryer great! Maybe could have used some AC.
This was a perfect house close to Glacier. Very quiet and peaceful!! Plenty of space to spread out inside and outside. Cooked a couple nights and the kitchen had everything we needed. The grill worked great. The beds were comfortable after long days in Glacier. Overall great place to stay and hoping we can come back again!!
Our family of five stayed in this lovely property in order to enjoy Glacier National Park and the surrounding area. The location was ideal, as it is very close to the park and nearby lakes for recreation. The house great and served our needs perfectly. Would definitely stay here again.
We really enjoyed our stay at Jaybird. It was perfect for our family, kids loved playing on the swing set and hanging out down by the creek.
This is a wonderful property in a perfect location for visiting Glacier National Park. It has a rustic charm that we all loved! Doyle was readily available to answer questions and overall we had an awesome visit!
Perfect location for visiting Glacier. Incredible close to the park whole still being very remote and secluded. Our group of 6 thoroughly enjoyed the large kitchen and cooking amenities allowed us to make our own meals every night.
Fun place to stay. Newly remodeled and perfect for a group. Loved the outdoor setting, especially the fire pit and the creek. Nice!
Great location, 10 minutes from the West Glacier visitors center.
Very nice, clean, private home. We enjoyed our stay.
I wanted to thank you for making our vacation one to remember. For our family this was a 10/10, you have nailed it.
Our 4 day stay at Jaybirds was a delight. We could not have wished for a more home away from home. It was very clean, well equipped & comfortable and in a beautiful setting.
Doyle was very responsive to our questions prior to arrival and it was a pleasure to meet him in person. If you are visiting the area, please consider Abbott Valley Homestead for your stay..... you won't be disappointed'
Thanks again for everything,
Darryl and family.
We enjoyed our stay at Jaybirds. While we only stayed one night, we
loved the setting of the homestead. It was clean and quiet. We
thought it would be ideal for a longer stay.
Thank you for the facility. Don and Family
Great experience! Beautiful setting and privacy was exceptional. Plenty of wood for a great campfire!
We will be back ! Loved the experience and privacy of your family homestead.
We found your home to be exceptionally warm and comfortable in a very rustic setting. It displayed a lot of love and care in the cleanliness and maintenance all through the property. The layout and location was very exceptional for our visit to Glacier National Park and the surrounding area. It was very accommodating to my wheelchair while not distracting from the historical homestead features of the house. The informative history of the property and surrounding area that you provided in the house was very enjoyable to read. We especially appreciate the effort that you put forward in making our stay comfortable. We certainly intend on returning when we visit the area again.
This is a wonderful property, It is very convenient to Glacier National Park. The property itself is beautiful and relaxing. The manager is on site and very easy to contact. We enjoyed the flowers, nearby creek, and hummingbird feeders which were kept full. Highly recommend.
Loved our stay although way too short. Your homes are really perfect for a group of folks to stay several days so that one can get a real feel for the area on multiple levels. I am trying to figure out how to get a group of loved ones together for at least 4 days.
Home, comfortable and comprehensive describe your abodes.
We had a WONDERFUL time staying at Jaybird's. It was quiet and peaceful; the bird and creek sounds were especially soothing. This house is clearly well loved and has so many thoughtful touches, making it comfortable and very accommodating of a family! The evenings were lovely, and after a day's worth of adventure in Glacier National Park, we relaxed on the front porch and sometimes strolled around the area to say hello to various dogs and horses. It was hard to leave! Thank you again. We'd love to come back! Best,
A very nice, unique home. Very log cabin style inside. It sits in a beautiful location in the country with many trees, a stream and hummingbirds. The house is very well equipped with essentials for the bath and kitchen. The beds were comfy as well. We would stay here again.
We truly enjoyed our visit to Abbott Valley Homestead. The children enjoyed having a yard to play in, and being able to have a fire every night. The cabin was awesome. We would sure visit again if the opportunity should arise.
I just finished making reservations again at Abbott Valley. We love the quiet beauty of this place with the nearby creek, surrounded by trees and meadows. Jaybird's is a lovely clean and well-maintained home. Thank you for the memories.
Our stay at Jaybird’s in Abbott Valley Homestead was very enjoyable and it was a great base for our vacation. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful, tucked into the woods besides a stream and across a gravel drive from a horse pasture. We saw deer and turkeys wandering around the property during our five days there in June. Although we arrived later in the evening than we expected, the owner, Doyle, came over with extra sheets and started a fire for us in the woodburning stove. Jaybird’s accommodations are rustic, but attractive, and the beds, including the pullout sofa in the den, were all very comfortable. There is a nice dining table to gather around, and the galley kitchen was tidy and functional.
Although Abbott Valley Homestead is on a country road a mile or so outside of the slightly ramshackle town of Martin City, the drive back out to Highway 2 is easy, and the location is very convenient. Turn right and West Glacier is about a 10-minute drive away and turn left and you are headed to Columbia Falls and then onward to Whitefish less than 40 minutes away. Glacier NP was the big draw for us, but there are many other things to do in the area, and Doyle had several suggestions for us while we were there. The next time we have a chance to visit we will certainly try to stay at Abbott Valley Homestead again.
Great place in a private setting. Clean and cozy. Perfect spot for couples or families.
The cabin was comfortably furnished with everything needed for base camp. As promised the cabin was very close to Glacier and many national forests. We would definitely return!
This house is very comfortable and retains the feel of a one-time family home, right down to the height chart for the kids who grew up here, carved into some doorposts. It is in a peaceful location and well equipped. It was surprisingly cool even on hot days. The hosts are friendly and helpful. One wrote an informative and entertaining history of this property and the area, which is kept in an album in the house.
This was a great meeting place for us. We had 4 adults and 2 children and still had plenty of space. The house was extremely clean, had all of the necessities, and the views were beautiful. We used the patio, fire pit, grill, kitchen, and took some lovely walks. We will definitely try to come back to the Jay-Bird again!
our family of two adults and two teen aged grand children loved staying at this home. the house consists of a master bedroom and two other bedrooms. the two bathrooms are down the hall from the bedrooms. we loved the outside of the house!!!!! a wonderful patio, a bar-b-que and a fire pit. all three of these features were used and enjoyed every night. there is even a swing that the kids loved. we enjoyed our stay....thank you.
We had plenty of room to spread out. We enjoyed the back patio and grill and the kids had a ball looking for rocks in the stream and exploring the trails. We had a great time and would highly recommend.
We had the wonderful pleasure of staying at your Resort between July 29 and Aug 2nd..
My daughter Sheri and I rented JayBird..
I just wanted to let you know how much we loved the time spent there.I could not think of a more perfect place..
Everyone of my family members that were there also can’t wait for a return vacation with you..
Everyone of the Cabins were {as the kids would say} were awesome..
I hope everyone left their Cabins in decent shape..I know we tried..Pretty sure we over did on the fire wood though..The whole group
seemed to stay at our fire pit each night{which was great},but I know we went through a lot of wood...sorry about that..
When and IF we can get together to do this again, will you accept us??? The next time we might need all of the Cabins, would that be ok with you?
There was so much to do and so little time.My first time Horseback riding and I am 78..I got the Mule{Dixie who loved eating Ferns}..That was a blast..
Next time I would do the hiking also..Needless to say, this is all we can talk about...Thank You so very much again for everything..
Hoping to see you again...
Our family group of 7 rented the Jaybird cabin for a week. It was just perfect for us and the whole experience was wonderful. The folks at Abbott Valley were so helpful in answering all of my questions before we even booked. When I explained that we'd be arriving after midnight, Doyle even offered to buy coffee and other breakfast supplies for our first morning. The cabin is clean and charming. The beds were comfortable and many basics are provided, like hand soap, toilet paper and paper towels, salt and pepper, fully appointed kitchen, etc. We especially enjoyed having a washer/dryer and even detergent provided. The best part of the AVH is the location. Although there were other cabins nearby, we never heard a peep out of other people in our week's stay. Doyle stopped in to check on us the morning after we arrived and before we left which was a very nice touch. We were surrounded by beautiful trees, flowers, meadows, and a small creek. We were visited by a doe and her fawn two mornings. Thank you Doyle and AVH for a perfect week!
I cannot tell you how much we DO NOT want to leave! We have so enjoyed 'allowing' our kids to run free in the pasture and sleeping with the doors unlocked -- a luxury we do not have in the city. We want to come back on a yearly basis. Thanks for your gracious hospitality.
We had our daughter's wedding ceremony in Glacier and our rather large family (including a contingent from Europe) came up early to enjoy this beautiful part of Montana. We were delighted with our time at Abbott Valley. Jaybird's and all the cabins are well-maintained and have nice touches that only come from places that real people made their homes for many years. Each cabin and its setting is completely different from the others so it was fun to move the party to a different place each evening. Another great amenity is the "Pavilion" next to the Millhouse. I think the Foley's just took the sides off a small barn to create it, but the result is a great place to BBQ and entertain no matter the weather. We had 50 some people there one evening and it worked perfectly. Finally the cost is very reasonable, especially if you compare it to the exorbitant lodges in Glacier Park (whose cabins aren't anywhere near as nice!)
